How to measure this project

Measure the rectangular ceiling field and decide the plank direction before using the takeoff. The dimension across the courses controls course count; the perpendicular dimension is the repeated run length. If the ceiling has soffits, beams, slopes or multiple directions, split it into separate zones rather than forcing one average rectangle.

Before you buy materials

Enter the installed face width, actual stock length and carton quantity for the selected ceiling-plank product. Tongue-and-groove or reveal profiles can reduce installed coverage. The calculator does not optimize seam staggering or short offcuts, so review the planned direction and available lengths before buying, then keep the waste percentage visible and justified.

Frequently asked questions

Is this the same as the Ceiling Tile Calculator?

No. Ceiling Tile uses individual module area and carton count; Ceiling Plank models repeated linear courses using installed face width and stock length.

Does the calculator choose plank direction?

No. Choose the direction from the project layout, then enter the run and cross-course dimensions accordingly.

Can it handle sloped ceilings?

Use actual developed surface dimensions or split the ceiling into measured sections. The tool does not derive slope geometry from roof pitch.
