How to measure this project

Measure the actual field that will receive one compatible rigid-board product. For a wall, record finished length and height and separate doors, windows or other large areas that will not receive board. If the surface steps, changes thickness, or transitions to another insulation system, split it into zones so the purchase math can be traced to the project sketch.

Before you buy materials

Use the selected product's actual sheet dimensions, not a generic nominal assumption. Sheet edges, scoring, tongue-and-groove profiles and required fastening or covering systems can affect layout but are not designed by this calculator. Whole-sheet rounding creates surplus; retain useful offcuts when the project allows them and keep the cut reserve modest and explicit.

Frequently asked questions

Is foam board the same as batt or blown insulation?

No. This calculator is specifically a sheet-based takeoff. Use an area/package calculator for products sold by coverage.

Does the tool tell me which foam thickness to use?

No. Thickness and thermal requirements must come from the project, product documentation and applicable requirements.

Should I subtract windows?

Subtract large openings when they materially reduce the board field; leave small cut losses to the explicit allowance.
