How to measure this project

Measure the bottom width that the selected sweep must cover on each compatible door. Group doors only when one stock profile and nominal length can serve them. If door widths differ materially, use separate calculations because this tool assumes one average compatible width and does not design spliced sweeps.

Before you buy materials

Confirm that the selected sweep stock is at least as long as the modeled door width and that its profile works with the threshold, floor clearance and door operation. Some doors have fire, smoke, accessibility or weather-exposure requirements that affect product selection. The spare allowance is applied to whole units, which is more realistic than adding arbitrary extra length to every door.

Can I use a shorter sweep and splice pieces?

This calculator does not model splices. Enter stock that is at least as long as the modeled door width.

Why is the allowance applied to whole units?

A door sweep is normally a discrete cut piece, so spare planning is clearer as extra units rather than extra length on each door.

Does this choose the correct sweep profile?

No. Verify threshold, door operation and any applicable fire, smoke or accessibility requirements first.
