Use the masonry field area associated with one consistent unit size and joint pattern. If the project combines brick, concrete block, stone or different joint geometries, estimate those zones separately because bag coverage can change substantially. Keep corners, pilasters and highly detailed sections visible rather than masking them with a single oversized allowance.
Choose the coverage value from manufacturer data, a documented takeoff basis or a reliable project-specific yield for the exact masonry unit and joint dimensions. Do not use this calculator to select mortar type or structural performance. Water, sand/cement site mixing, admixtures, colored mortar, reinforcement and weather conditions may affect actual consumption and should be reviewed separately.
