Waste and packaging are separate.
Measure horizontal building or roof-plan dimensions rather than the sloped surface when using the pitch multiplier method. Enter the horizontal overhang at the roof edges represented by the model. For additions, dormers or multiple roof levels, split the roof into documented planes instead of assuming one rectangle.
Roof work involves fall hazards and complex flashing/details. Use plans, aerial measurements or qualified field measurement where appropriate. This calculator estimates geometry only; it does not determine shingle waste, underlayment laps, ventilation, structural loading or safe work methods.
