How to measure this project

Measure each ridge and each hip that will receive cap material along the actual roof line, then total like conditions. Keep valleys and eaves out of this measurement because they use different materials. If a roof has multiple ridge heights or product transitions, record them as separate runs so one product coverage value is not applied across unlike details. A simple roof sketch with labeled ridge and hip lengths is usually enough to make the takeoff traceable.

Before you buy materials

Ridge-cap linear coverage depends on the product, exposure and installation method. Use the manufacturer or supplier coverage for the exact cap being purchased rather than a generic bundle assumption. Ventilated ridge systems, starter/end details and color matching may affect what must be ordered but are not automatically added here. Keep those accessory decisions outside the arithmetic, then use the whole-bundle result as the field-material quantity target.
