Whole-piece rounding occurs at the purchasing step.

How to measure this project

Walk the roof plan and total the horizontal eave edges and sloped rake or gable edges that are in the project scope. Keep edge types labeled even if the same stock profile will be used, because installation details may differ. Do not include valleys, ridges or interior roof intersections. When gutters, fascia repairs or roof additions create excluded segments, record those deliberately instead of shortening the measured roof outline without a note.

Before you buy materials

Drip-edge profiles, dimensions, laps and installation sequence vary by roofing system and project requirements. This calculator only converts the entered linear scope into whole stock pieces. Use the actual stock length sold by the supplier and choose an allowance suitable for the number of corners, transitions and short offcuts. Verify compatibility with the roof assembly, underlayment and gutter/fascia detail before purchase or installation.

Frequently asked questions

Are ridges included in drip-edge length?

No. Drip edge is measured at applicable roof perimeter edges, not at ridges or valleys.

Why measure eaves and rakes separately?

They may use different installation details even if the same stock profile is ultimately purchased.

Does the calculator choose the correct drip-edge profile?

No. Profile selection and assembly compatibility are external project decisions.
