Use the actual sold length for the selected product.
Trace the finished countertop perimeter and mark which edges receive the selected trim or edge product. Wall-backed edges, appliance cutouts and seams may use different treatment, so do not automatically count the full countertop perimeter. Add waterfall edges, exposed side returns or island ends separately. If two edge profiles are used, create two independent linear takeoffs because stock lengths and waste cannot be safely blended.
Some countertop edges are fabricated directly into slabs and are not purchased as linear trim. Use this calculator only when a product or fabrication scope is meaningfully measured by length. Confirm corner pieces, end caps, connectors and profile compatibility with the actual system. When stock is directional, patterned or finish-matched, a higher explicit allowance may be warranted because short offcuts may not be reusable.
