How to measure this project

Measure only the excavation zone intended to contain stone and separate any soil cover, topsoil or non-stone layers. Use the actual chamber, tank or structure displacement from geometry or manufacturer documentation. If the excavation is stepped or irregular, divide it into simpler volumes instead of forcing one rectangle. Keep inlet/outlet trenches separate unless they use the same stone section.

Before you buy materials

Aggregate type and gradation, geotextile, chamber configuration and compaction/placement method must come from the actual drainage design. This calculator does not determine whether a dry well is appropriate for the site or how large it should be. The result is a material-volume estimate after the project geometry is already known. Convert cubic yards to supplier weight only with a material-specific density.

Does this size a dry well for rainfall?

No. Hydrologic sizing and infiltration design are outside the quantity calculator.

Should chamber void space be added to stone volume?

No. Enter the physical chamber displacement so the tool subtracts the space not occupied by stone.

Does the cubic-yard result equal water-storage capacity?

No. Stone and chamber void space require separate hydraulic analysis.
