Methodology

Formula & assumptions

Project area

length × width

Measures the paved footprint.

Paver area

paver length × paver width

Converts inches to square feet.

Pieces

ceiling(area × (1 + waste) ÷ paver area)

Rounds individual pieces up.

Pallets

ceiling(pieces ÷ pieces per pallet)

Rounds to whole supplier pallets.

How to measure this project

Measure the paved footprint at finished edges. For curves or irregular borders, divide the area into simple shapes and keep a larger cutting allowance. Record the dimensions you used and recheck any section that is irregular, tapered or interrupted before relying on the final quantity.

Before you buy materials

Pattern, joint width, cuts, breakage and supplier pallet configuration can change the final quantity. Confirm pieces per pallet and whether partial pallets can be purchased. Compare the calculated target with the exact package, coverage and availability offered by the supplier, then round only at the final purchase step.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Does this include joint spacing?

No. Treat paver dimensions and waste as planning inputs; detailed layout can alter count.

Are base gravel and sand included?

No. Plan bedding and base materials separately.

Can I buy a partial pallet?

Some suppliers allow it and some do not; use the piece result if partial quantities are available.
