Pipe Sleeve Calculator: Penetration Stock Length

Plan straight sleeve stock for repeated pipe penetrations through walls, floors or similar assemblies after the required sleeve size and detail have already been selected. Count penetrations, enter the average cut length and convert the total into sold stock pieces.

Methodology

Formula & assumptions

Base sleeve length

penetration count × average cut length

Use groups when assembly thicknesses differ.

Purchase target

base length × (1 + cut allowance)

Keeps offcut reserve visible.

Stock pieces

target ÷ sold stock length, rounded up

Final rounding occurs at the supplier unit.

Purchased stock

whole pieces × sold stock length

Shows stock surplus separately from required cut length.

How to measure this project

Count only penetrations that use the same sleeve material and approximate cut length. Measure the assembly thickness plus any required extension already specified by the penetration detail. Separate thick foundation walls, thin partitions and floor slabs into different groups when their sleeve lengths differ significantly; averaging unrelated assemblies can hide a large stock error.

Before you buy materials

The calculator only determines straight sleeve stock quantity. Sleeve diameter, material, fire-resistance detail, waterproofing, sealing, structural restrictions and annular-space requirements must come from the actual project or approved system. Check whether offcuts can be reused before selecting the cut allowance and use the real sold stock length for purchase rounding.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Does this choose sleeve diameter?

No. Diameter and annular-space requirements come from the actual penetration detail.

Can I combine wall and floor sleeves?

Only when they use the same product and similar cut lengths. Otherwise calculate groups separately.

Does the result include firestop material?

No. Firestopping and sealing systems are separate project materials and requirements.
