How to measure this project
Confirm the actual inside diameter for the pipe material and schedule because nominal pipe size does not equal bore diameter. Measure the developed pipe length along the run. If the system contains large fittings, tanks, coils or components with materially different internal volume, estimate those separately rather than pretending the entire system is one straight cylinder.
Before you buy materials
Internal volume can help with flushing, fill volume, chemical treatment or freeze-protection planning, but it does not indicate flow capacity or pressure performance. Pipe sizing, velocity, pressure drop and drainage design depend on fluid properties, fittings, elevation, demand and applicable plumbing requirements, all of which remain outside this geometry calculation.
