Measure the inside or finished dimensions that define the actual volume being filled or occupied. Keep units consistent and avoid mixing nominal product dimensions with real cavity dimensions. If the shape changes depth or width, divide it into smaller rectangular volumes and add those verified volumes.
Cubic feet is a geometry result. Bulk aggregate may be sold by cubic yard or ton, soil may settle, concrete needs an allowance and bag yield, and packaged products round to whole units. Use this result to cross-check the material-specific calculator rather than treating raw volume as a purchase order.
