Methodology

Checks quantity against actual roll dimensions.
Measure the inside bottom length and width plus the vertical height that will actually receive liner. If the liner stops below the top edge, use that lower height. For repeated beds, keep separate counts when dimensions differ. The result treats bottom and side surfaces as area; complex folds, corner pleats and penetrations need a layout sketch rather than hidden extra dimensions.
Enter the real roll width and length. Roll area determines the first-pass purchase count, but width can be the limiting dimension when a bottom or side strip cannot be cut as planned. The tool therefore reports the geometry and whole-roll quantity while leaving seam pattern, drainage openings and material compatibility as explicit project checks.

No. Total area is only a quantity check. Compare roll width with each required strip and plan seams or folds separately.
The calculator does not make that decision. Use the selected material, soil, drainage plan and project requirements to decide what surfaces, if any, should be lined.
For a side-only project, set up a separate manual area or use the sidewall result as the quantity basis; this calculator is intentionally framed around bottom-plus-side liner planning.
