How to measure this project

Measure each wall plane that will receive the selected board, including full-height returns or partial-height sections as separate rectangles when needed. Do not assume the finish-tile height and board height are identical; the project assembly may extend farther. Large windows or untiled access zones can be deducted, but niches and ledges may add return surfaces. Keep a sketch showing seams or unusual geometry because sheet layout can change the amount of offcut that is reusable.

Before you buy materials

The quantity result is only a sheet takeoff. Board type, thickness, edge treatment, waterproofing compatibility, fastener spacing and seam treatment must come from the actual project and manufacturer instructions. Enter the usable coverage of the sheet size being purchased and choose a cut allowance appropriate for the enclosure. If multiple board products are used in different zones, calculate those zones separately rather than averaging coverage.

Frequently asked questions

Does this calculator choose cement board or another panel?

No. It only converts approved project geometry into sheet quantity; material selection is external.

Should the board stop at the tile height?

Use the boarded height required by the actual assembly, which may differ from finish-tile height.

Are waterproofing membranes included?

No. Membrane, seam treatment and fasteners are separate material takeoffs.
