Count the finished treads to cover and measure clear stair width. Measure tread depth and riser height on representative steps; older stairs can vary. Record the dimensions you used and recheck any section that is irregular, tapered or interrupted before relying on the final quantity.
Stair products often have dedicated nosings, caps or tread pieces. Confirm product installation details before treating a general box-coverage result as a final order. Compare the calculated target with the exact package, coverage and availability offered by the supplier, then round only at the final purchase step.
