Do not approximate a complex outline with one oversized triangle.
Measure one straight edge as the base, then measure the shortest perpendicular distance from that base to the opposite vertex. A diagonal side is not a valid height unless it is actually perpendicular. For an irregular floor, wall or yard, sketch the outline and divide only the triangular section you can verify.
Use the calculated area as a measurement layer, not a final order quantity. Tile, flooring, landscape fabric and other materials need their own waste, package size, seam or overlap rules. Keep the triangular area precise, then move it into the calculator that matches the material you will actually purchase.
