How to measure this project

Measure one continuous vertical siding field from the exact lower layout datum to the top termination that the coursing must fill. Do not average elevations with stepped foundations, different soffit/frieze heights, window bands or other breaks. If adjacent wall sections must maintain aligned courses but have different heights, establish the controlling datum and solve/verify each field intentionally rather than hiding the difference inside an average wall height.

Frequently asked questions

Why not run every course at the maximum exposure?

A wall height rarely divides evenly by the selected maximum. Using the maximum repeatedly can leave a short final band. Auto-even mode increases the whole course count as needed and divides the field into equal reveals that stay at or below the entered maximum.

Is exposure the same as board width?

No. Exposure/reveal is the visible vertical increment after courses overlap or interlock. Product face width and required overlap are product-specific; use the selected product instructions to determine the exposure value you enter.

Are the marks nail lines?

No. They are layout references only. Fastener placement and clearances remain governed by the selected siding system and project requirements.

Can I use the course count to order siding?

No. Course count is vertical layout geometry. Purchasing also depends on wall width/area, openings, plank or panel length, packaging, waste, trim and offcut reuse.
